Thursday, November 2nd, 2023.- Brasil and the United States had a great day in table tennis at Santiago 2023, securing victory in both the female's and male's team events at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico de Ñuñoa.
The Brazilian team defeated Chile 3-0 and Colombia 3-1 in the female's event, quickly earning a spot in the quarter-finals as they aim for another medal in this sport.
Notably, Bruna Alexandre made her debut within the South American team. She lost her right arm due to thrombosis at the age of six months. Bruna and her partner Giulia Takahashi defeated the Colombian pair of Cory Téllez and María Perdomo and later the Chilean duo of Paulina Vega and Daniela Ortega.
In the male's team event, the Brazilian team beat Paraguay 3-0 and then Ecuador 3-2, also securing a place in the round of eight as they chase a medal.
On the female's side, the United States celebrated with a 3-0 victory over the Independent Athletes Team and a 3-1 win against Argentina, earning them a spot in the quarter-finals.
In the male's team event, the Americans prevailed 3-2 over Cuba and 3-2 over Mexico, securing their place in the next round. Similar achievements were also reached by Brazil and Argentina.
