México continues to be unstoppable in basque pelota at Santiago 2023

The Mexican team once again secured victories in all categories at the Estadio Español in Las Condes.

Thursday, November 2nd.- México continues its dominance in the Basque pelota competition at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. On Thursday, Mexican representatives won in all categories, both male and female. 


In the female's competition, Itzel Reyes celebrated victory as she defeated Chile's Zita Solas with scores of 12-6 and 12-6 in frontball. Marifer Noriega, on the other hand, triumphed over Uruguayan Macarena Morell with scores of 15-1 and 15-2, and later secured a win against Argentina's Sabrina Andrade with scores of 15-11, 7-15, and 10-9, both in rubber ball paleta. 


In females doubles, Mexican players also demonstrated supremacy, with Ximena Placito and Ariana Cepeda defeating Chile's Magdalena Muñoz and Natali Bozzo in frontenis. Dulce Figueroa and Laura Puentes achieved similar success against Chile's Maritxu Bastarrica and Emilia Domínguez in the trinquete category. 


On the male's side, Mexico secured victories in the singles with David Álvarez winning against Argentina's Nicolás Comas with scores of 12-2 and 12-5 in frontball. Isaac Pérez also celebrated victories against Cuba's Alejandro González with scores of 15-4 and 15-6 and against Chile's Renato Bolelli with scores of 15-3 and 15-6 in rubber ball paleta. 


In doubles, Isaac Cruz and Jorge Olvera triumphed in frontenis by defeating Peru's Juan Bezada and David Yupanqui with scores of 15-3 and 15-6. On the trinquete, Arturo Rodríguez and Daniel García secured victory by defeating Chile's Julián Stabon and Esteban Romero with scores of 15-17, 13-15, and 10-7. 


With these results, Mexico remains steadfast in its pursuit of winning eight medals in this discipline, equaling their achievements in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
