The United States takes the lead in the heptathlon at Santiago 2023

American athletes Erin Marsh and Jordan Gray finished ahead in the event that combines seven tests, ahead of Puerto Rican Alysbeth Félix. The gold medal will be decided on Thursday.

Wednesday, November 1st.- The United States dominated from start to finish in the first four events of the female's heptathlon at Santiago 2023. Erin Marsh and Jordan Gray took turns leading during the rainy evening in the Chilean capital, with Marsh finishing the day on top with a score of 3,520, while her compatriot Gray totaled 3,423.

Marsh won the 100-meter hurdles and the 200 meters, while Gray excelled in the shot put. Brazilian Tamara de Souza secured the high jump.

After the first day of competition, Costa Rican Alysbeth Félix ranks third with 3,211 points, followed by Cuban Marys Patterson (3,176), De Souza (3,168), and Mexican Lilian Borja (3,159).

The event saw the withdrawal of Canadian athlete Georgia Ellenwood, who completed only the 100-meter hurdles and high jump.

The competition concludes on Thursday with the final three events: long jump, javelin throw, and 800 meters.
