Argentina to defend Pan American gold in male hockey after defeating the US

The current gold medalist defeated the Americans and will seek to validate the gold obtained in Lima 2019.

Wednesday, November 1st.- The Argentinian male field hockey team will seek to defend the gold medal they won in Lima 2019 after defeating the United States 2-0 in the semifinals.

With goals from Lucas Martínez and Santiago Tarazona, Argentina secured their place in the final of Santiago 2023, where they will await their opponent, determined by the winner of the match between Chile and Canada.

The match was closely contested, and the Argentinian goals came in the second and third quarters, securing their spot in the final as they aim for another gold medal.

After the victory, Lucas Martínez said, "It was a tight game, we knew that the semi-finals would be tough. They turned the score around on us several times, but we managed to maintain the result and the match."

"The important thing is to focus on executing our game plan, and we missed a moment of finesse to earn more penalty corners," Martínez added.

The male hockey final is scheduled for Friday, November 3, at 7:45 p.m. local time.
