Chile advances to field hockey final by defeating Canada in penalty shootout

In a thrilling conclusion, ‘Los Diablos’ defeated the current Pan American silver medalists.

Wednesday, November 1st.- Chile advanced to the male's field hockey final by defeating Canada (the silver medalists in Lima 2019) in a penalty shootout and will now compete for the gold medal against Argentina.

The match ended 1-1 in regular time, and the "Diablos" had to battle hard to secure their place in the gold medal match. They initially fell behind due to a goal by Gordon Johnston.

However, Franco Becerra equalized after a penalty corner in the final quarter, sending the game into a penalty shootout. In the shootout, Chile's goalkeeper, Adrián Henríquez, was the star, stopping three of Canada's penalty shots.

Chile will face the current Pan American champions, Argentina, in the final. The match is scheduled for Friday, November 3rd, at 7:45 p.m. local time at Centro de Hockey Césped del Estadio Nacional.
