Jamaican Hyde and Brazilian Lima advance to the 400-meter hurdles final

Except for the non-participation of the American Cristopher Robinson and the elimination of the Salvadoran Pablo Andrés Ibáñez, there were no surprises in the semifinals.

Wednesday, November 1st.- Jamaican Jaheel Hyde was the fastest in the semifinals of the male 400 meters hurdles and easily advanced to the final this Friday at Estadio Nacional.

The Caribbean athlete clocked a time of 49.72 seconds, surpassing the Brazilian Matheus Lima (49.94 seconds), the only two to break the 50-second mark on this rainy Wednesday in Santiago 2023.

Both names were among the most likely finalists.

Meanwhile, the third-best time went to the Cuban Yoao Illas (50.05 seconds).

The other qualifiers were Costa Rican Gerald Drummond (50.24 seconds), who arrived with the best time of the season, Mexican Guillermo Campos (50.82 seconds), Brazilian Marcio Soares (51.20 seconds), Dominican Yeral Núñez (51.27 seconds), and Argentine Bruno de Genaro (51.40 seconds).

American Cristopher Robinson, who came to the semifinals with the second-best time in 2023, didn't make it to the starting line.

Among the eliminated, the Salvadoran Pablo Andrés Ibáñez (51.52 seconds) stands out, who arrived in Santiago with the fourth-best record of this season.

Meanwhile, local athletes Cristóbal Muñoz (51.57 seconds) and Alfredo Sepúlveda (52.34 seconds) finished in 12th and 14th place among the 14 participants.
