The United States dominates in freestyle wrestling at Santiago 2023

At the start of the discipline, the North Americans won four gold medals.

Wednesday, November 1st.- Freestyle wrestling made its presence felt at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, where the United States took control of the mat at the Centro de Deportes de Contacto at Estadio Nacional and simply swept four gold medals.

The first gold medal of the afternoon was won by the American Kyle Snyder, after defeating the Cuban Arturo Silot, 14-4, in the 97-kilogram category. In the same series, the Venezuelan Cristian Sarco won the bronze by defeating the Chilean Matías Uribe, 10-0. In the other contest for the third place in the same weight category, Canada's Nishan Randhawa defeated Costa Rica's Maxwell Lacey.

In the 125-kilogram category, the champion was the American Mason Parris, who defeated the Venezuelan José Díaz, 2-0, earning him the silver medal. The bronzes went to the Argentinian Catriel Muriel and the Jamaican Aaron Johnson, who defeated the Puerto Rican Jonovan Smith and the Dominican Elison Adames, respectively.

The United States continued to demonstrate its dominance in wrestling as they also claimed the gold in the 57-kilogram category, with Zane Richard winning 10-0 against the Colombian Óscar Tigreros. The bronzes in this weight class went to Darian Cruz (who defeated the Dominican Juan Ramírez) and the Cuban Osmany Diversent (who overcame the Argentinian Hernán Almendra).

In the last match of the day, once again, the United States prevailed, with Tyler Berger in the 74-kilogram category, where he defeated the Cuban Franklin Marén, 3-0. The bronze medals in this category went to the Venezuelan Anthony Montero (who defeated the Mexican Anthony Valencia) and the Canadian Adam Thomson (who won against the Honduran Luis Barrios).
