Chile secures one win and suffers two defeats on the second day of Basque Pelota

The victory of Zita Solas in frontball became the first one for Team Chile in this sport. However, Rosario Valderrama and Gonzalo Foullioux didn't have the same luck on the day.

Wednesday, November 1st.- With Zita Solas' victory in frontball, Team Chile celebrated their first win of the day. The experienced representative of the host country managed to defeat the Costa Rican player, recovering from the tough loss to Argentina in their debut.

Also in frontball, Gonzalo Foullioux saw action. The Chilean succumbed to the Mexican Miguel Álvarez (a former world champion) in straight sets. The score favored the Mexican, 12-4 and 12-5, positioning him as one of the top contenders for the gold medal at the Estadio Español.

Another discipline held in the morning was 30-meter rubber paddle. The Chilean Rosario Valderrama came close to victory against Marifer Noriega, but she lost in a closely contested match by two sets to one. A shoulder injury hindered the local athlete's chances against the Mexican, who is also one of the favorites for the gold.

The action continues in the afternoon with the trinquete in both female and male's categories. Both Chilean pairs suffered defeats against Uruguay yesterday, and today they will aim to secure their first win at Santiago 2023. Basque Pelota events will continue until Sunday, which marks the end of the 2023 Pan American Games.
