Male's Handball: USA Defeats Uruguay and Advances to the Semifinals

In a tightly contested match, the United States defeated Uruguay 34-30 in the Group B of the male's handball competition, securing their spot in the semifinals of the 2023 Pan American Games.

Wednesday, November 1st.- Both teams entered this decisive match, played at the Gimnasio Polideportivo in Viña del Mar, with one win and one loss each, having beaten Cuba and fallen to the favorites Argentina. In other words, the winner would continue in the competition, and the loser would be eliminated. It was the Americans who managed to prevail, although they faced a tough challenge until the very end.

The balance was constant from the beginning, with both teams taking turns leading without establishing a significant difference.

However, the United States managed to pull ahead at the end of the first half, heading into halftime with a 19-15 lead that proved to be decisive. This was because the final period remained equally competitive, and while the United States didn't widen the gap on the scoreboard, Uruguay also failed to close in.

As a result, the Americans will join Argentina in the semifinals, while Cuba, who has been eliminated, concludes its participation in the group.

In Group A, Chile and Brazil have already secured their places in the next round.
