Tuesday, October 31th, 2023.- Chile advanced to the final of women's soccer by defeating the United States 2-1 at the Estadio Sausalito, putting them on a direct path to compete for the gold medal against Mexico.
The team, led by coach Luis Mena, outperformed their opponent from the start, and at the 37th minute, Karen Araya opened the scoring with a beautiful free-kick.
Chile maintained their strength, and before the first half concluded, Yanara Aedo didn't miss from the penalty spot, making it 2-0.
In the second half, Emeri Adames scored for the Americans, posing a challenge for Chile for extended periods. However, Mena's team defended themselves, drawing upon their last reserves of energy, and managed to secure their place in the gold medal match.
In the final, which will take place on Friday, November 3, the Chilean team will face Mexico at the Estadio Sausalito, starting at 8:00 p.m. local time.
The bronze medal match will also be held on the same day and at the same venue, but at 3:00 p.m. local time, between Argentina and the United States.
