Tuesday, October 31th, 2023.- Argentina continues its steady progress in male's volleyball at the Pan American Games after defeating the Dominican Republic in four sets in Group B at the Arena Parque O'Higgins.
The first two sets were highly contested. The Dominicans took the first set 25-20, and then the second set went to Argentina in an exciting tiebreak, which they closed out 30-28.
Afterward, the Argentine team began to assert its experience and expertise, sealing their victory over the Central Americans with scores of 25-17 and 25-20.
Player Nicolás Lazo appreciated his team's comeback to secure the victory. "It was a tough match, and each game will get tougher as each team improves. We are happy with the victory, where the first two sets were tight, and we were able to win the second set to avoid falling behind 2-0," he said.
"We had an extra edge in that set with the resilience of the team, as they played well throughout the match, but we didn't stop fighting and won the game in four sets," he added.
Argentina's next match will be against Chile on November 1st at 8:30 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic will face Puerto Rico at 5:30 p.m. local time.
