Santiago Ford Secures Chile's Seventh Gold Medal

The Cuban-born decathlete triumphed in the combined event with a score of 7,830 points. The silver medal went to the Brazilian José Fernando Ferreira, while the bronze was claimed by Ryan Talbot of the United States.

Tuesday, October 31th, 2023.- Santiago Ford has become the new national hero of Chile in athletics after securing the seventh gold medal for the host country at the 2023 Pan American Games.

This Tuesday, he completed the decathlon with a score of 7,830, which allowed him to surpass the Brazilian José Fernando Ferreira (7,748) and the American Ryan Talbot (7,742).

It is the second unexpected victory for the Chilean delegation in athletics at Santiago 2023, following discus thrower Lucas Nervi's first-place finish on Monday.
