Brazil crushes the Dominican Republic in male's handball

The South American team secured a resounding victory over the Caribbean team with a score of 36-20 at Gimnasio Polideportivo de Viña del Mar, advancing to the semi-finals.

Tuesday, October 31th, 2023.- Brazil achieved another victory in male's handball at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, defeating the Dominican Republic 36-20 in Group B of this discipline.

The South American team, which had previously debuted with an overwhelming 51-19 win against Mexico, dominated the Caribbean team almost from start to finish at Gimnasio Polideportivo de Viña del Mar, with a shooting accuracy of 64% in front of the opponent's goal.

Once again, the standout player for Brazil was Rudolph Hackbarth, who scored seven goals. Additionally, goalkeeper Leonardo Tercariol made an impact by stopping nine out of 20 attempts by the Dominican team.

Brian Monte, a player from the South American team, commented after the victory, "This is a big boost to our confidence. The hard work we've put in is showing results, which makes us feel confident for what lies ahead in this tournament."

"We need to be prepared as there are only a few days of rest, but all the teams are facing the same situation. Our initial goal was to qualify, which we achieved, and now we're going all out for the gold medal," he concluded.

As a result, Brazil remains at the top of Group B, awaiting the outcome of the match between Chile and Mexico, which is scheduled to take place at 20:00 as the closing match of the day.
