Bolivia Defeats Jamaica to Secure Seventh Place in Female's Football

The highland squad prevailed 2-1 at the Estadio Elías Figueroa and notched their sole victory in Santiago 2023. The Antillean team bids farewell without securing any wins.

Tuesday, October 31th, 2023.- Bolivia's female's football team clinched the seventh spot at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago by defeating Jamaica 2-1 in the opening match of the final day of football competition at the Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander in Valparaíso.

The Bolivian team took the lead on the scoreboard through Samantha Alurralde in the 24th minute, but the Jamaican players equalized the score in the 48th minute, thanks to Sheyenne Bonnick, who scored her only goal in the competition.

However, Bolivia secured the final advantage with a goal from Carla Méndez, sealing the South American team's first victory after losses to the United States (6-0) and Argentina (3-0), and a draw against Costa Rica (0-0).

On the other hand, Jamaica couldn't celebrate during their time in Chile, accumulating only defeats, including substantial losses to Mexico (7-0), Paraguay (10-0), and Chile (6-0).
