Summary of the day: Brazil surpasses Mexico, takes second place in medal table

The 11th day of competition was extraordinary for the Brazilians, as they climbed to the second position in the Pan American Games medal table, surpassing Mexico.

Monday, October 30th, 2023.- On the 11th day of the Pan American Games, there were changes in the medal table as Brazil secured three gold medals, moving past Mexico into second place.

The Brazilians had an outstanding day, accumulating 40 medals, bringing their total to 123 (with 37 gold). This placed them firmly in second place. Canada remained in third with 105 medals (including 35 gold), and Mexico held the fourth spot with 89 total medals (35 gold).

The day was marked by the start of athletics, where Brazil secured a gold medal with Izabela Rodrigues in the female's discus throw. Her compatriot, Andressa Oliveira, took the silver.

In athletics, the Dominican Republic won the gold in the 4x400, outperforming Brazil, which took home the silver.

Peru also had a successful day, climbing to seventh place in the medal table, thanks to the gold medals won by Benoit Clemente in surfing and Luz Mery Rojas in the female's 10,000 meters. The Peruvians have now won a total of 22 medals, seven of which are gold.

Meanwhile, Chile dropped to eighth place with a total of 38 medals, including six gold medals, thanks to Lucas Nervi's victory in the discus throw.
