Dominican Republic soars in mixed 4x400 at Santiago 2023

With a powerful finish by Marileidy Paulino, the top favorites delivered in this event, which is being contested for the first time at the Pan American Games.

Monday, October 30th, 2023.- The mixed 4x400 relay team from the Dominican Republic, led by star Marileidy Paulino, finished the last lap at the National Stadium track to secure the gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, confirming their status as favorites in the event.

The Dominicans did not disappoint and lived up to their current status as Olympic and world runners-up in this discipline.

The Caribbean team, composed of Marileidy Paulino, Anabel Medina, Ezequiel Suárez, and Robert King, completed the race in a time of 3'16"05, followed by Brazil (3'18"55) and the United States (3'19"41).

The local quartet finished in seventh place with a time of 3'28"77.

In the final stretch, Paulino showcased her silver medal from the 400 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, leaving no doubt that the Dominican quartet would secure the victory.

This is the first time in the history of the Pan American Games that the mixed 4x400 meters relay has been contested.
