Brasil registers two finalists in the male's 100 meters

Monday, October 30th, 2023.- After the completion of the three heats in the men's 100 meters, the eight sprinters who will compete for the gold in the grand final on Tuesday (9:00 p.m. local time) at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games have been determined.

The best time in the qualifiers was achieved by José Arnaldo González from the Dominican Republic, who clocked 10.30 seconds in the first heat.

In the same heat (the fastest of the three), the double South American champion Felipe Bardi from Brazil (10.33), Emanuel Archibald from Guyana (10.35), and Odaine Mcpherson from Jamaica (10.37) also secured their spots in the final.

In the subsequent heats, the final was reached by Cuban Shainer Rengifo (10.36), the world runner-up from Panama, Alonso Edward (10.37), Brazilian Erik Barbosa (10.43), and Diego González from Puerto Rico (10.50).

Chile's four-time champion, Enrique Polanco, competed in the second heat and finished fifth with a time of 10.57, far from the qualifying times. He finished 15th.
