Cuba wins another final against Chile in the last individual judo competition

In the +100-kilogram category, Andy Granda defeated the local competitor, Francisco Solís. Brazil was the country with the most gold medals in the discipline.

Monday, October 30th, 2023.- On Monday, a new judo competition took place at the Centro de los Deportes de Contacto , marking the conclusion of individual matches in both the female's and male's categories.

The day concluded with a battle for the gold medal between Chilean Francisco Solis and Cuban Andy Granda in the +100-kilogram category, with the Central American prevailing with an ippon.

Local judo also faced another setback in a fight for the gold medal when Thomas Briceño, the champion in the -100-kilogram category at Lima 2019, lost to Canadian Shady Elnahas, also by ippon.

Cuba had a strong performance in Monday's finals, securing two gold medals: Ivan Silva (-90 kilograms) and Idalys Ortiz (+78 kilograms).

Brazil's delegation has been the most successful in judo, accumulating a total of 15 medals, including seven gold, two silver, and six bronze.

The judokas will once again don their judogi on Tuesday for the team competitions, which will be held in Ñuñoa.
