Male’s Handball: Argentina successfully began the defense of their title

The South American team, champions at Lima 2019, defeated the United States 28-14 in their first appearance at Santiago 2023. In the afternoon, Brazil will play against Mexico, and Chile will face the Dominican Republic.

Monday, October 30th.- Argentina, the champion at Lima 2019, successfully started the defense of their Pan American title by defeating the United States 28-14 in a match that, despite the expressive score, was only resolved in the second half. 

At the Gimnasio Polideportivo in Viña del Mar, 120 kilometers from Santiago, the North Americans surprised in the first half and maintained the lead on the scoreboard almost until the end. However, the Argentinians reacted in the final minutes and went into halftime with an 11-10 lead. 

The second half was a different story. Argentina showed its superiority from the beginning and ended up establishing a comfortable lead. 

The match was part of Group B, which had started with Uruguay's dramatic 25-24 victory over Cuba. 

This afternoon, in Group A, Brazil will face Mexico, and Chile will compete against the Dominican Republic.
