Highly anticipated Athletics events take over the final week of Santiago 2023

The most traditional track and field competitions will make their debut in Santiago 2023 with the men's decathlon at around 3:00 p.m. Water polo, fencing, male's handball, and male’s volleyball will also begin to see action.

Monday, October 30th.- The Estadio Nacional track is ready to welcome one of the sports that usually gathers the most people at Pan American and Olympic Games. With the start of the decathlon at 3:30 p.m., the most traditional athletics events will make their debut in Santiago 2023. 


This discipline will capture a significant portion of the attention with events including men's decathlon, female's and men's discus throw, 400 and 100 meters for both females and males, female's long jump, female's 10,000 meters, and mixed 4x400 relay. 


But this afternoon session will be preceded by other morning events. Early in the morning, surfing returns with finals in Pichilemu, after a weekend suspension due to bad weather in the area. Softball, judo, table tennis, and sailing competitions will also continue. 


The female’s field hockey will have its final group stage day on this Monday, where the hosts will face Cuba with the aim of advancing undefeated to the semifinals of the tournament. 


Water polo is another sport that will have its first day of competition, with the highlight being the match between Chile and Canada in the male's category. Fencing, male's handball, and male’s volleyball will also have action on October 30th.
