Sunday, October 29, 2023.- The Brazilian female's basketball team retained the Pan American title after defeating Colombia 50-40 in the final of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The Brazilian players were not in the mood for surprises, so they took an early lead in the first quarter (23-15). They won the second quarter 9-8, and although there was a tie in the third quarter (6-6), they came out on top again in the final quarter, winning 12-11 to secure the final score.
The top scorer for the two-time Pan American champions was Erika de Souza with 13 points, followed by Leila Zabani (10) and Debora Fernandes (7).
Colombia, on the other hand, claimed the silver medal and the satisfaction of having had a strong tournament from start to finish.
With Brazil in first place and Colombia taking the silver medal, the final standings in female's basketball were as follows: third place Argentina, followed by Cuba (4th), Venezuela (5th), Chile (6th), Puerto Rico (7th), and Mexico (8th).
