Sunday, October 29, 2023.- The Paraguayan handball team defeated Chile 23-20 and secured the bronze medal in an exciting match played at the Gimnasio Polideportivo de Viña del Mar.
After a delay of two hours and 15 minutes due to water leaks that affected the venue the night before and flooded a section of the court, the match finally took place, and Paraguay quickly took the lead on the scoreboard.
The Paraguayan team was more accurate in their finishing, while Chile lacked effectiveness, especially in one-on-one situations. The first half favored Paraguay 14-11.
In the second half, the Paraguayan team confirmed their higher shooting accuracy, with Fernanda Insfran and María Fernández as their top scorers, while Valeska Lovera stood out for Chile.
The last minutes were filled with pure excitement. Chile seemed like they could level the score, but they once again succumbed to Paraguay's better shooting percentage, ultimately securing the match and the bronze medal.
Earlier, in the Pan American fifth-place match, Puerto Rico defeated Cuba 31-29.
