Saturday, October 28, 2023.- The Saturday session of female's basketball at the Pan American Games began with the battle for seventh place between Puerto Rico and Mexico, marking the final stretch of competitions in this discipline.
It was the Puerto Rican team that ultimately prevailed with a close score of 75-70, earning their second victory in the entire tournament. The only victory they had had was against Cuba with a score of 72-69, in the Group A match.
The game, held at the Polideportivo 1 in Estadio Nacional, was highly competitive, as evidenced by the quarter scores: the first was won by the Mexican team 22-23, the second ended in a 17-17 tie, and the third and fourth quarters were won by the Puerto Rican team 22-19 and 23-12, respectively.
The standout player for Puerto Rico was Pamela Rosado, who scored 21 points and secured one rebound, while the best performer for Mexico was Myriam Lara, with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Saturday's female's basketball in Santiago 2023 will continue with the following matches: Chile vs. Venezuela for fifth place starting at 1:00 p.m.; Cuba vs. Colombia, the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m.; and Brazil vs. Argentina, the second semifinal beginning at 8:00 p.m.
