Female's Handball: Cuba defeats Canada and will compete for fifth place

The Cuban team won 26-20 and will face the winner of the match between Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Meanwhile, the Canadians will compete against the loser of that match for seventh and eighth place.

Saturday, october 28nd, 2023.- In the battle for the secondary positions, Cuba defeated Canada 26-20 in female's handball at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. They will now compete for fifth and sixth place.

At the Gimnasio Polideportivo de Viña del Mar, the Cuban team gained a significant advantage in the first half, which they ended up winning 13-6. The second half was much more evenly matched, but the Canadians never managed to come too close.

Tomorrow, on Sunday, October 29, the Cuban team will face the winner of the match between Puerto Rico and Uruguay for fifth and sixth place, while the Canadian team will play against the loser of that match for seventh and eighth place.

In the medal round, the semifinals will be held this afternoon. At 5:30 p.m., Argentina will face Paraguay, and at 8:00 p.m., Brazil will play against Chile. The winners will compete for the gold, and the losers will compete for the bronze.
