Friday, October 27.- Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (ATP Ranking 119) advanced to the semifinals of male's tennis at Santiago 2023 after defeating the Argentinian Facundo Bagnis (ATP Ranking 198) with a score of 6-2, 6-4. 

In pursuit of a spot in the gold medal match, he will face Chilean Tomás Barrios (ATP Ranking 105) on Saturday, who had to put in a great effort to eliminate the Dominican Nick Hardt (ATP Ranking 315) with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. 

Monteiro had a strong start against the Argentinian, quickly taking a 5-0 lead and closing the first set 6-2. 

The second set was more evenly matched, but in the seventh game, he secured the decisive break point. 

Bagnis didn't make it easy, as he managed to hold his service in the ninth game and even had three break points in the last game, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Brazilian from securing the victory. 

In the other male's semifinal, Argentinian Facundo Díaz (ATP Ranking 109) will face Brazilian Gustavo Heide (ATP Ranking 202).
