Tomás Barrios places Chile's in the male’s tennis semi-finals

The local player had to put in more effort than expected to overcome the Dominican Nick Hardt in a closely contested three-set match.

Friday, october 27nd, 2023.- Chilean tennis player Tomás Barrios (ATP ranking 105) secured a spot in the male's singles semifinals after a hard-fought three-set victory over Dominican Nick Hardt (ATP ranking 315) with scores of 2-6, 6-4, and 6-4. The match lasted for two hours and 20 minutes.

The match took place in front of a large crowd at the Court Central del Estadio Nacional. Barrios had a shaky start, losing two consecutive service breaks and falling behind 0-5 in the first set.

However, the local player gradually improved his game, and despite losing the first set 6-2, he found the momentum for the rest of the match. He displayed greater consistency and began hitting excellent shots from the baseline.

Barrios managed to win the second set 6-4 after recovering a break, and in the third set, with the support of the home crowd and his strong first serve, he closed the match with another 6-4 to secure his spot in the semifinals.

In the semi-finals, he will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Facundo Bagnis (ATP ranking 198) and Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (ATP ranking 119).
