Tennis: Facundo Díaz Acosta struggles more than expected

The Argentinian won 6-3, 7-6 (5), and 6-1 against the Mexican Max Escobedo.

Friday, october 27nd, 2023.- In a match that lasted longer than many expected, the Argentinian Facundo Díaz Acosta (ranked 109th in the ATP) defeated the Mexican Max Escobedo (world ranked 320) by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (5), and 6-1 at the Court Central at Estadio Nacional on Friday. The match extended over two hours and 39 minutes.

The Mexican Max Escobedo, who reached the 67th position in the ATP rankings in July 2017 (the best ranking of his career) leveled the match. But in the decisive set, he succumbed to an opponent who secured a spot in the semifinals. He will play against the Brazilian Gustavo Heide (world ranked 232) this Saturday.

This way, the 22-year-old tennis player from Buenos Aires is one win away from securing another medal for Argentina and earning a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
