Colombia beats Panama and will compete with Brazil for the gold in baseball

The Colombian team won a tight 2-1 victory against the Panamanians in the Super Round and advanced to the grand final in Cerrillos.

Friday, October 27, 2023.- Colombia extended its streak in the Super Round of baseball at Santiago 2023, winning the morning match this Friday against Panama with a close 2-1 score. This victory allowed them to advance to the grand final for the gold in these Pan American Games.

The Colombian team managed to recover from a rough start at Cerrillos, as Panama scored the first run of the game in the second inning, courtesy of Enoc Watts.

After a long wait, the scoreboard only moved again in the sixth inning, this time in favor of Colombia when José Ramos scored a run, tying the game at 1-1.

In the seventh inning, the hero for Colombia was Francisco Acuña, who scored a run, securing the 2-1 victory for the South American team.

With this win, Colombia will compete for the gold medal against Brazil. The latter, which already qualified, plays in the afternoon against Mexico.

The final will take place on Saturday, October 28, starting at 3:00 p.m., at the Centro de Béisbol y Sóftbol de Cerrillos.
