Pan American Surfing: Weekend Sessions Suspended

Unfavorable weather forecast, which could be dangerous for male and female surfers, have forced Panam Sports to adjust the dates for the events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, October 27, 2023.- The Pan American surfing competition, eagerly anticipated and hosted at the renowned Punta de Lobos Beach in Pichilemu, Region of O'Higgins, began on Tuesday, October 24, and was originally scheduled to conclude on Sunday, October 29.

Although the competitions proceeded successfully over the course of these four days, the organizers of Santiago 2023 confirmed that the events planned for the weekend have been canceled due to adverse weather conditions.

The upcoming weather system, which is expected to affect the central-southern region of the host country, could create unfavorable maritime conditions for the competitors.

Furthermore, due to the forecast of rain and strong winds for both days, Panam Sports had to make adjustments to the original schedule. As a result, the competition will resume on Monday, October 30, with the finals and the medal ceremony.
