Colombia adds another gold in female's Madison and is fifth in the overall

The duo of Lina Rojas and Lina Hernández secured the second gold for the Colombian delegation at the Velódromo in Peñalolén. A third gold could be won in the afternoon if Martha Bayona emerges victorious in the female's sprint final.

Friday, october 27nd, 2023.-  Colombia had an outstanding final day in track cycling at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, claiming the gold medal in the female's Madison event.

The duo composed of Lina Rojas and Lina Hernández won the second gold for the Colombian delegation with 47 points at the Velódromo in Peñalolén.

Meanwhile, the silver went to Lizbeth Salazar and Maria Gaxiola of Mexico with a score of 42, while the bronze, with 30 points, was awarded to Chloe Patrick and Colleen Gulick of the United States.

This excellent result adds to the qualification of Martha Bayona for the female's sprint final, where she could improve Colombia's track record at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

With six medals, two of them gold, Colombia shares the top positions in this discipline with Mexico and Canada. The battle for the lead will continue this afternoon with the final between Bayona and Mexican Yuli Verdugo in the female's sprint event.

In the overall medal tally, Colombia currently holds the fifth position with a total of 32 medals, consisting of 8 gold, 12 silver, and 12 bronze.
