Friday, October 27.- A highly anticipated match unfolded between Brazil and Colombia in female's basketball, marking the start of Friday's action at the Polideportivo 1 at Estadio Nacional. Confirming their status as favorites, the Brazilian team emerged victorious with a final score of 78-57.
It's worth noting that both teams had already secured spots in the semifinals of Santiago 2023 by winning their first two matches. With this result, Brazil clinched the top spot in Group B.
Brazil had previously defeated Mexico 72-54 in the opening match and Venezuela 94-47. Meanwhile, Colombia overcame Venezuela 73-57 and Mexico 66-54.
The first quarter between the Brazilian and Colombian teams was closely contested, with the latter taking a 23-22 lead. However, Brazil asserted its dominance in the second quarter, winning 19-8. Colombia made a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Brazil 16-11. In the fourth quarter, Brazil performed strongly, winning 26-10.
Erika de Souza was Brazil's standout player, contributing 14 points and eight rebounds, while Manuela Ríos shone as Colombia's top player with 16 points and seven rebounds.
To conclude Group B, Mexico and Venezuela will face off at 1:00 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., matches from Group A will begin, starting with the duel between Puerto Rico and Argentina, followed by Cuba versus Chile at 8:00 p.m.
