Finalists in male's boxing have been determined

Brazil will have four boxers competing for the gold, Cuba three, while Mexico and the United States have two each. Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Canada will each have one representative.

Thursday, october 26, 2023.- After the penultimate day of male’s boxing, Brazil will be the country with the most representatives competing for the gold, as Douglas Da Silva (51 kg), Wanderley De Souza (80 kg), Marley Machado (92 kg), and Junior Teixeira (+92 kg) secured their spots in the final.

In the 51 kg category, the Dominican Yunior Alcantara defeated the American Roscoe Hill 4-1, while Da Silva prevailed by the same score against the Argentine Nicanor Quiroga.

In the 63.5 kg category, the Canadian Wyatt Sanford won by unanimous decision against the Brazilian Yuri Falcao, while the Mexican Miguel Ángel Martínez beat the Dominican Miguel de La Cruz 3-2.

Cuban Arlen López defeated the Argentine Gabriel Buonarrigo 5-0 in the 80 kg category, while Brazilian Wanderley De Souza won unanimously against the Haitian Cedrick Belony-Duliepre.

In the +92 kg category, Brazilian Junior Teixeira overcame the Colombian Camilo Salcedo 4-1, and the American Timothy Edwards won 5-0 against the Cuban Alejandro Arzola.

Also advancing to the gold medal match is the American Jamalh Hervey, who won 5-0 against the Brazilian Luiz Gabriel Do Nascimiento in the 57 kg category. He will face the Cuban Saidel Horta, who defeated the Dominican José Luis de Los Santos 4-1.

In the 71 kg category, Mexico's Marco Verde defeated Panama's Teodoro Beckford 5-0, and Ecuador's José Gabriel Rodríguez did the same (4-0) against the Canadian Junior Peka.

Finally, in the 92 kg category, the Cuban Julio César La Cruz defeated the Ecuadorian Julio César Castillo 4-1, while Brazilian Marley Machado won by no-show against the Canadian Bryan Colwell.

In Pan American boxing, there are no matches for third place, so both losers in the semifinals receive bronze medals.
