Thursday, october 26nd, 2023.- One of the countries that had yet to reach the top of the podium at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games was Trinidad and Tobago. However, this drought came to an end on Thursday, thanks to the cycling prowess of track cyclist Nicholas Paul. He claimed the gold in the speed event at Velódromo de Peñalolén, a district located in the southeastern part of the city of Santiago.

The 25-year-old cyclist emerged victorious in the final against Surinam's competitor Jair Tjon En Fa, earning the gold medal. He was the best in both races they contested, and a third race was not needed.

With Paul's contribution, Trinidad and Tobago secured its 13th gold medal in its history at the Pan American Games.

The bronze medal, on the other hand, went to Colombia, thanks to Kevin Quintero's 2-0 victory in races against the Canadian Nicholas Wammes.
