Chilean Gabriel Salazar qualifies for the Main Draw in SUP surfing

The representative of the local team secured victory in an exciting heat against the Peruvian Tamil Martino.

Thursday, october 26, 2023.- Chilean Gabriel Salazar advanced to the main draw in male's SUP surfing after winning an exciting heat against Peruvian Tamil Martino.

The local surfer achieved a score of 16.60 after riding two waves very skillfully, earning scores of 8.33 and 8.27, while his opponent finished the heat with 14.60 points.

"It's thrilling. The last wave was the best one; it was my choice, and everything went well. It was a tough heat against a good competitor. It was a back and forth battle. Now, I'll relax for tomorrow (Friday) because we're still in the game," an excited Salazar expressed.

The Chilean has set an ambitious goal for the competition. "My focus is to reach the final and go for the gold. That's what I'm aiming for," he stated.

In another significant result of the day, Peruvian Sol Aguirre (one of the world's best) advanced to the main draw in shortboard after defeating the Brazilian Silvana Lima with a score of 14.67 to her opponent's 4.50.
