Thursday, october 26nd, 2023.- One of the sports that the Argentinian delegation has set its sights on for winning medals at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games is handball. And in the female category, they demonstrated their favoritism in the group stage, which they conquered without a single defeat.

Moreover, the team led by Carlos Siso concluded this stage with a resounding victory of 31-10 over Canada.

The standout player at the Polideportivo de Viña del Mar was the Argentinian Elke Karsten, who scored 10 goals.

Argentina dominated Group A, where they also celebrated victories against Puerto Rico (46-17) and Chile (28-15), earning a place in the semifinals, while remaining undefeated.

This Saturday, at 5:30 p.m, they will face Paraguay, who, despite a close loss to Uruguay (23-22), secured the second spot in Group B.

In this way, the Argentinian team continues to have the opportunity to surpass their performance in the previous Pan American Games in Lima 2019, where they won the silver medal after losing in the final to Brazil.

The other semifinal will feature the defending champion, Brazil, who also completed the group stage with only victories, the most recent being a 49-11 win over Cuba. Therefore, Brazil will face an opponent to be determined from either Chile or Puerto Rico.
