Thursday, october 26, 2023.- In a match corresponding to Group A, Mexico and the Dominican Republic drew 0-0 at the Estadio Elías Figueroa in Valparaíso, seriously complicating their chances of advancing at the male's football competition. This is because both of them lost their debut match. Now, they depend on others’ results to reach the semi-finals of Santiago 2023.

The other two members of this group, Uruguay and Chile, will face off at 6:00 p.m. today, and if there is a winner, they will secure a place among the top four.

Mexico entered today's match as the favorite, and in the first half, they had the best opportunities to open the scoring. However, their forwards lacked efficiency, and in the final minutes, the Dominicans began to threaten on the counter-attack and came close to victory.

In the end, the score remained unchanged, and the match concluded with a brawl between members of both teams, who had to be separated by the Peruvian referee, Jesús Cartagenta.

Mexico will conclude its participation in the group stage against Uruguay on Sunday, the 29th, at 1:00 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic will do the same on that day against Chile at 6:00 p.m.
