Thursday, october 26, 2023.- A commanding 15-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at the Parque Estadio Nacional marked the United States' debut in female's field hockey at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. This happened on Thursday morning at the Parque Estadio Nacional.

The North Americans got off to a strong start in Group A, which also includes Argentina and Uruguay, and they aim to secure a spot on the medal podium. "It has been great to start the championship this way; we had fun, played a lot on the attack, and enjoyed it. The goal is the gold medal, and we're going for it to see if we can achieve it," said American goal scorer Sanne Caarls.

The player, originally from the Netherlands and currently based in Belgium, expressed her amazement at the infrastructure set up for the Pan American Games, which inaugurated the Centro Deportivo del Hockey Césped. "The stadium is spectacular; I really like it, with stands all around, mountains in the background, I love that view. The field is good and fast, which is positive for playing," she concluded.

The team that wins the gold medal will qualify directly to the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the other three semifinalists will compete in the specific pre-Olympic tournament.
