Female’s volleyball: Brazil overcame Mexico and goes for the gold

In an exciting match, the South American team battled until the end to secure the victory and advance to the Pan American final against the Dominican Republic.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- Brazil advanced to the Pan American volleyball final by defeating Mexico in an exciting five-set match.

After an uncomplicated first set, where Brazil won 25-17, Mexico adjusted their defensive line's reception. Once they controlled the South American attack, they managed to level the score and take the second set 25-22.

At the start of the third set, Brazil regained the initiative with Sabrina Machado as their standout player. She delivered four successful attacks into the opponent's court, helping her team to win the set narrowly with a score of 27-25.

Mexico's strong performance took the match to the fifth and decisive set. The excellent defense of their player, Paola Rivera, who blocked two powerful attacks from Brazil, allowed them to tie the score 2-2 with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Both teams gave their all, but it was Brazil that showcased their greater experience to secure the last set 15-13 and the victory.

The verdeamarelha will compete for the Pan American gold against the Dominican Republic on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. local time at Parque Arena Santiago..
