Mexico reaffirms dominance in diving with two new gold medals

On Wednesday, they secured victories in the synchronized three-meter female springboard and the 10-meter male platform, allowing them to dominate the specific medal standings.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- Mexico continued to assert its dominance in the sport of diving at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, a dominance that was reaffirmed on Wednesday as they concluded the discipline with two more gold medals, one in the synchronized three-meter female springboard and the other in the male 10-meter platform.

The first medal of the day was claimed by the duo of Paola Pineda and Arantxa Chávez, who clinched the gold medal in the synchronized three-meter female springboard with a score of 285.48.

After their victory, Chávez remarked, "I'm very happy because, along with Paola (Pineda), we performed very well on the springboard and achieved our goal. We were determined to secure these medals, and fortunately, we succeeded."

The silver medal went to the Canadian pair of Pamela Ware and Mia Vallee (280.65), while the bronze was earned by the American duo of Jordan Skilken and Hailey Hernández (279.06).

Mexico wrapped up the day's diving events at the Centro Acuático Estadio Nacional with another gold medal, this time in the male 10-meter platform, thanks to Randal Willars. In his sixth and final dive, he outperformed Nathan Zsombor-Murray, earning a score of 479.40.

The Canadian competitor secured a score of 476.15 and settled for the silver medal. Mexico also claimed the bronze, with Kenny Zamudio achieving a score of 451.60.

The Mexican contingent reaffirmed its supremacy in the specific medal standings at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, securing a total of 11 medals, consisting of eight gold, two silver, and one bronze. Canada followed with eight medals, including two gold, five silver, and one bronze. Colombia secured four medals, with two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes, earning them the third spot on the medal chart.
