Volleyball: Dominican Republic aims for Pan American gold

The Central American team turned the game around and secured their spot in the final of Santiago 2023 against Argentina.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- The Dominican Republic's volleyball team became the first finalist at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games after defeating Argentina 3-1.

The match, held at Parque Arena Santiago, started in favor of the Argentinians, who quickly secured the first set with a score of 25-16.

The Dominican Republic reacted and leveled the match by winning the second set 25-19, thanks to the brilliant performance in the attack by Brayelin Martínez.

Argentina began the third set with a more aggressive game, but the Dominican team controlled the actions and went up 2-1 with a comfortable 25-20.

Despite Argentina's efforts in the fourth set, they couldn't change their fate, conceding the match and their chance to win the Pan American gold medal.

The Dominican Republic will have their final match this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. local time against the winner of the match being played tonight between Brazil and Mexico.
