Paraguay crushes Jamaica and gets fired up in Pan American female soccer

The South American team had an inspired day at Estadio Sausalito in Viña del Mar, defeating the Caribbean team by a comfortable margin of 10 goals.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- Paraguay played a perfect match and secured their first victory in female’s soccer at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. They defeated Jamaica by an impressive score of 10-0 in a Group A match held at the Sausalito Stadium in Viña del Mar.

The scoring opened just six minutes into the game when defender Lorena Alonso beat the Jamaican goalkeeper Sajane Anderson.

The Paraguayan team wanted more and extended their lead to 18 minutes with a goal from Jessica Martínez, and at the 22nd minute through University of Chile forward Rebeca Fernández, after a great team play.

The fourth goal came soon after, as Celsa Sandoval scored with a header in the small box at the 24-minute mark.

In the second half, the Paraguayan players further increased their lead with goals from Jessica Martínez (46' and 53'), Dahiana Bogarín (52'), Ramona Martínez (81'), Daysy Bareiro (89'), and Celsa Sandoval (90').

Thanks to this big win, Paraguay earned their first victory in Group A, reaching three points, the same as Chile, who will play against Mexico on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m in Viña del Mar.

Paraguay's next match will be on Saturday, the 28th, at 1:00 p.m. against Mexico at Estadio Sausalito. Meanwhile, Jamaica will face the host nation, Chile, on the same Saturday, starting at 6:00 p.m. in Valparaíso.
