Female Basketball: The voices of first half of day winners

Brazil defeated Mexico 72-54, and Colombia defeated Venezuela 73-57 in Group B. María Lópes and Manuela Ríos commented on their respective team's victories.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- On Wednesday, the first matches of female's basketball took place at Polideportivo 1, featuring games between Brazil and Mexico, as well as Colombia and Venezuela. Both Brazilian and Colombian teams secured solid victories.

The first game of the day featured Brazilian women who triumphed with a score of 72-54 over the North Americans. The standout player of the match was María Lopes, who stated, "All games are tough, and the good thing is that we could overcome the debut nerves. Two challenging matches are coming up against Colombia and Venezuela, and the goal is to win the group to reach the semifinals."

Following that matchup, Colombia secured a victory with a score of 73-57 against Venezuela. One of the standout players in the game was Manuela Ríos Martínez, who contributed 13 points and two rebounds.

"We are a team that has been together for a long time, and it showed in this debut, a very important game as the first step. We come to these Pan American Games with the goal of making it to the final and winning the gold medal. I trust my teammates since we are like a family, which complements us a lot," she expressed.

The victory for the Colombian team places them at the top of Group B alongside Brazil. In the evening, matches for Group A will take place, featuring Cuba against Argentina at 5:30 p.m, and Chile against Puerto Rico at 8:00 p.m.
