Dressage: Gold for Ecuadorian Mendoza, Chilean Grimm heads to Paris 2024

Julio Mendoza triumphed in the individual equestrian training event ahead of the Brazilian Joao Marcari and the American Anna Marek. The Chilean Svenja Grimm finished eighth but still secured a spot for the Olympic Games.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- In front of a large audience that filled the venue for all three days of the event, Ecuadorian Julio Mendoza secured the gold medal in the individual equestrian training competition held at the Regimiento Granaderos de Quillota Equestrian School, located approximately 100 kilometers north of Santiago.

The silver medal went to the Brazilian Joao Marcari, while the bronze was claimed by the American Anna Marek.

With his victory, Mendoza qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but he was not the only one to secure a spot on this day. Chilean Svenja Grimm also did so, finishing in eighth place.

Grimm's qualification was due to the fact that those ahead of her had already earned places in the team competition: The United States, Brazil, and Canada took gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Ecuadorian Mendoza clinched the gold with 87.230 points, followed by Marcari with 86.160, and Marek with 81.305.

Further down the rankings were Sarah Tubman of the United States with 81.155, Renderson Silva de Oliveira of Brazil with 80.095, Codi Harrison of the United States with 79.230, Camille Carier of Canada with 78.915, and the Chilean Grimm with 78.335.
