Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- The Chilean female's volleyball team defeated Cuba in the competition held at the Arena Parque O'Higgins in Santiago. As a result, they have advanced to the match for fifth and sixth place, where they will face Colombia, who, in turn, overcame Puerto Rico.
In the presence of Chile's President, Gabriel Boric, the home team triumphed 3-0, with set scores of 25-15, 28-26, and 25-17.
Meanwhile, Colombia staged a dramatic comeback against Puerto Rico, winning 3-2.
The Central American team had initially secured the first two sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-22, but the South Americans fought back, winning the next three sets at 25-22, 25-21, and 15-8.
With this results, on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., Cuba and Puerto Rico will face off for the seventh and eighth place, while at 1:00 p.m., Chile and Colombia will compete for fifth and sixth place.
In the battle for medals, this afternoon, starting at 5:30 p.m., the semifinals will feature the matchups of the Dominican Republic against Argentina and Brazil against Mexico. The losing teams will compete for the bronze on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and the winners will vie for the gold at 8:00 p.m.
