Female's Basketball: Brazil Debuts with a Convincing Victory over Mexico

The South American team confirmed their favoritism against the North Americans, dominating the game from start to finish and taking the lead in Group B.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- Brazil and Mexico starred in the opening game of female's basketball at the Pan American Games on Wednesday. The match took place at the Polideportivo 1 of the Estadio Nacional and was part of Group B. It ended with a resounding 72-54 victory in favor of the South American team.

The first quarter of the game was highly contested and ended with a mere four-point advantage for the Brazilians (16-12). The second quarter was even closer, with Brazil leading by just three points (19-16).

In the third quarter, the Mexican team fell behind by seven points, and in the final stretch of the game, it was nearly impossible for them to make a comeback. The score in the last quarter mirrored that of the first.

María Lópes and Vanessa Fausto were the most assertive players on the South American team, each contributing twelve points. On the North American side, Jacqueline Luna and Gladiana Ávila both scored nine points.

The other teams in Group B, Colombia and Venezuela, will take the court at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. At 5:30 p.m., Cuba and Argentina will debut, and to close the day, there will be a match between Chile and Puerto Rico.
