Handball: Brazil defeats Uruguay with a big win, securing their second victory

The current Pan American champions in the female's category defeated Uruguay 29-8. Following their victory over Paraguay in their debut, they solidified their position at the top of Group B.

Wednesday, October 25th.- The Brazilian female's national team continued their successful defense of the Pan American title they won in Lima 2019. With a resounding 29-8 victory over Uruguay, they secured their second win in the competition, solidifying their position at the top of Group B. 

In the Gimnasio Deportivo of Viña del Mar, the Brazilian team dominated from start to finish, and by the end of the first half, they had already built a substantial lead of 17-5. 

The situation didn't change in the second half, and the lead continued to grow. 

The top scorers of the match were the Brazilians Larissa Araujo and Ana Paula Rodrigues, with 5 and 4 goals, respectively. On the losing side, Camila Bianco stood out with 6 of the 9 goals for her team. 

In their debut, Brazil had defeated Paraguay 27-15, while the Uruguayan team had a closer match against Cuba, losing 25-21. Cubans and Paraguayans will face off starting at 12:30 p.m. 

In the afternoon, the action will continue with matches in Group A. At 5:30 p.m., Chile will play against Argentina, and at 8:00 p.m., Puerto Rico will take on Canada. 

The handball competition at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 offers qualifying spots for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
