Julie Brousseau won her second gold medal in swimming at Santiago 2023

The Canadian athlete secured the gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley. In the male's event, American Jay Litherland emerged victorious.

Tuesday, october 24nd, 2023.- Canadian representative Julie Brousseau claimed her second gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games by winning the 400-meter individual medley competition at the Centro Acuático of Estadio Nacional.

Brousseau proved to be the fastest swimmer at the Centro Acuático of Estadio Nacional, finishing with a time of 4:43.76 to earn her second gold medal, adding to the one she had previously won in the female's 4x100 freestyle relay.

The silver medal went to American Lucerne Bell (4:44.27), while the bronze was awarded to Brazilian Gabrielle Roncatto (4:47.92).

In the male's 400-meter individual medley, American Jay Litherland secured the gold with a time of 4:15.44.

The silver medal was claimed by Canadian Collyn Gagne (4:17.05), and the bronze went to Brazilian Brandom Almeida (4:18.74).

Earlier in the competition, Canadian swimmer Maggie Mac Neil won her fourth gold medal at the Pan American Games, this time in the female's 50-meter freestyle, where there was a tie for gold, as American Gabi Albiero also recorded a time of 24.84.

Mac Neil has had an outstanding performance at Santiago 2023, as in addition to her victory this Tuesday, she also won in the 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter freestyle, and the female's 4x100 freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, in the male's 50-meter freestyle, the gold medal went to American David Curtiss (21.85), who previously won silver at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Budapest.

Silver was claimed by his compatriot Jonathan Kulow (21.90), and the bronze medal was awarded to Bahamian swimmer Lamar Taylor (22.13).
