United States and Canada dominate in Tuesday morning's badminton

The American delegation reached the female's individual final, as well as the doubles. Meanwhile, Canada did the same in the mixed doubles and male's singles.

Tuesday, october 24nd, 2023.- Badminton at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 continues to unfold at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico, where the United States and Canada emerged as the big winners in this Tuesday morning session.

The American delegation secured a spot in the female's individual final thanks to Jennie Gai's victory over the Cuban Taymara Oropesa, with scores of 22-20 and 21-7. In addition, the North Americans advanced to the female's doubles semifinals with a victory from the duo comprised of the Xu sisters, Annie and Kerry, who triumphed 21-7 and 21-18 over the Brazilians Juliana Viana and Sania Passos.

On the other hand, Canada celebrated victory in the mixed doubles with Alexander Lindeman and Josephine Wu, who defeated the Peruvian duo of José Guevara and Inés Castillo with scores of 21-10 and 21-11. The Canadians also rejoiced in the men's singles with Brian Yang defeating El Salvador's Uriel Canjura by scores of 21-11 and 21-10.

As a result, the United States and Canada will vie to increase their track record at Santiago 2023. The American delegation currently leads with 86 medals (41 gold), while the Canadian team ranks third with 41 medals (thirteen gold).

It is worth noting that in Santiago 2023, Badminton will contribute to the Olympic ranking, playing a crucial role in the journey to Paris 2024.
