Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- From the beginning of the 3-meter springboard final, Mexican Osmar Olvera confirmed the high expectations placed on him, which gave him a good chance of securing another victory in Santiago 2023.
The 19-year-old didn't disappoint and dominated his competitors at the Centro Acuático of Estadio Nacional, in the competition that closed out Monday's activities in the Pan American swimming pool.
The Mexican accumulated a total of 536.15 points for his six dives, nearly 100 points more than his closest competitor, Colombian Luis Felipe Uribe (444.25). The bronze medal went to the American Jack Ryan (435.35).
In addition, he once again brought victory to his country in this discipline, where Mexico had previously reached the top of the podium with Joaquín Capilla (Buenos Aires 1951 and Mexico City 1955), Yahel Castillo (Guadalajara 2011), and Rommel Pacheco (Toronto 2015).
The Mexican delegation thus completed a perfect night in Santiago as before Olvera, the duo of Gabriela Agúndez and Alejandra Orozco won the gold medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform.
