Chile puts up a fight but can't beat the United States in 3x3 basketball

The Americans also secured gold in female's competition, defeating Colombia.

Monday, october 23nd, 2023.- In a closely contested match, defending champion United States emerged victorious in the final of males's 3x3 basketball, defeating Chile 21-15 in the game held at Estadio Español.

The match started positively for the local trio, taking an early lead. Team Chile was ahead 6-1, 11-7, and 12-10 before the Americans took control of the game and quickly established themselves at 15-12, 18-13, and 20-15.

The winning point came via a free throw by Kareem Maddox, the captain of the American team, who had already secured gold with his in Lima 2019.

For the champions, the scorers were Canyon Barry (8 points), Jimmer Fredette (7), Kareem Maddox (4), and Dylan Travis (2).

The goals for the home team were contributed by Kevin Rubio (7), Carlos Lauler (4), Diego Silva, and Daniel Arcos, each with 2.

Bronze went to Trinidad and Tobago, who defeated Venezuela 21-20.

Earlier in the female's competition, the United States prevailed in the final against Colombia with a score of 21-14, securing another gold for their country. The top scorers for the champions were Azura Stevens with 11 points and Lexie Hull with 5.

For the Colombian team, the leading scorer was Jenifer Muñoz with 6 points.

Bronze went to the Chilean female, who defeated Puerto Rico 22-11.
